Google Custom Search Engines (CSE)
Unwittingly I have become an expert in building custom Google search engines. I got roped into a few projects that required multi-domain solutions and lots of URL pattern exclusions. This is a pretty amazing system that enables even simpletons like myself to build and maintain custom [integrated] search solutions as XML configurations. Updates to the engine are hands off, lights out - no humans needed.
They even have this collaboration model that allows you to build an engine and let the masses contribute to tuning and improving it. The featured examples are pretty useful.
